The "Loser" STRIKES again

Going back in time:

The night before our final dress rehearsal we actually had the night off. Weird, I know. Right? However, instead of staying in and resting, catching up on paperwork, or other things you're supposed to do on a Free Day, the cast invited me out bowling.

Singers usually like to partake in a practice called "vocal rest" on days between performances or big rehearsals. This is when they take a break from using their voice. So, when they suggested bowling as a thing to do I was a little taken aback. There's usually a good portion of whooping and such involved when I bowl.

Happily, I got to be the cheerleader and chief whooper for the Opera Cleveland Bowling Team. Oddly enough, we weren't the only celebrity team there that night gracing the lanes. The Celine Dion Dancers were in the lanes next to us. While we were infinitely better bowlers, they definitely had better victory dances.

The game had me tied neck and neck with the assistant director up until the last frame. He guttered his final two balls leaving me only 1 point behind. Suddenly all chatter in the alley stopped. It was my big chance! All eyes turned to me. And all eyes saw me pick up my 9 pound ball (at least it wasn't 8 LBS, thank you very much), dry my hand on the hand blower thing, turn and take my position on the wood, stare down the pins, strike that pose that bowlers strike and easily bowl 2 balls directly into the gutter, losing me the game by 1 point.

Thus, my bowling name of "Loser" was upheld.

A few beers and a few games later I redeemed myself with a few strikes.

The Loser strikes again!

Get it? Strikes again? Heh heh...sorry. Couldn't resist.

Loser. You need to take the girls bowling - they love it. As an added bonus you can bowl on their lane with the bumpers up! Heehee
